Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must be a resident of one of the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas panhandle.
  4. Must have a learning disability.
  5. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  6. Must attend a college or university in the state of Texas.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: High school seniors residing in one of the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas panhandle who plan to enroll full time in a college or university in Texas are eligible for this award. Students must have a learning disability and must exhibit integrity, ambition, good moral character and a strong desire to achieve a higher level of education.

Application requirements for the Jake Jones Memorial Scholarship for the Learning Disabled are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • IRS 1040
  • ACT/SAT scores
  • Disability proof
Additional Information: This scholarship was established in 1995 by the family of Jake Jones and the community of Claude for learning disabled graduating seniors in the Texas panhandle. The applicant must exhibit integrity, ambition, good moral character and a strong desire to achieve a higher level of education. Recipients are selected by the Amarillo Area Foundation Scholarship Screening Committee.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.
