In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must plan to attend Marist College in New York.
  4. Must be an incoming first-time freshman.
  5. Must plan to enroll on a full-time basis.
  6. Must plan to major in computer science or information technology and systems.
  7. Must demonstrate academic talent through the strength of his/her curriculum and academic performance throughout high school, as well as ACT and/or SAT scores.
  8. Must plan to attend a college or university in New York.

Description: This full-tuition scholarship is available for U.S. high school seniors who plan to major in computer science or information technology and systems at Marist College. Students must be academicially talented and demonstrate financial need by being Pell Grant eligible.

Additional Information: To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must demonstrate financial need by being eligible for the federal Pell Grant. Eligibility for the Pell Grant is determined by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Potential scholarship recipients will be identified once an admission decision has been finalized. Recipients will be notified no later than April 1.

Award Amount: This scholarship will cover tuition, room, and board for four years. In addition, each recipient will receive the following benefits: a laptop; opportunity to participate in high-level internships and research with Fortune 500 companies; special advising from the dean and key faculty in the School of Computer Science and Mathematics; and mentorship opportunities from industry leaders at IBM, Goldman Sachs, Cisco, Morgan Stanley and EMC.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $51,880.

Students apply for this award by applying for admission to Marist College (MC). Admissions information is available by clicking on the 'Admission' tab, then the 'Freshman Students' link. The student may apply for admission via either the MC application or the Common Application. Both applications have online and print versions. The student need only choose one method of application. To be considered for this scholarship, the student must be sure to check the appropriate box on the admissions application. In addition to the completed admissions application, the student must submit the following: a $50 non-refundable application fee; a completed 'Counselor Recommendation and Transcript Request Form' (available on the MC website); official copies of secondary school transcripts; official SAT or ACT results; a personal essay; a supplemental essay describing why he/she would be a good candidate for this program and MC; and one additional letter of recommendation. To be considered for the scholarship, the student must also complete an interview with the dean and/or faculty from the School of Computer Science and Mathematics. The student must apply for admission by one of the following deadlines: Nov. 1 for Early Decision; Nov. 15 for Early Action; or Feb. 1 for Regular Decision.
