Number of Awards & Eligibility: 30 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  2. Must be a full-time student.
  3. Must have a minimum composite SAT score of 1700 or higher OR ACT score of 27 or higher.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  5. Must plan to enroll in an approved engineering program at an accredited college or university.
  6. This award is for U.S. students.
  7. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  8. Must be a resident of either: one of Maryland's 23 counties or the city of Baltimore, Maryland; the city of San Gabriel Valley, Antelope, Conejo, San Fernando, Simi Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, California or Ventura County in California; Orange or Seminole County in Florida; the city of Arlington Heights, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Mt. Prospect, Palatine, or Rolling Meadows in Illinois; Erie or Niagara County in New York; Butler, Claremont, Hamilton, or Warren County in Ohio; Davis, Salt Lake, Utah or Weber County in Utah; or Albemarle County in Virginia.

Description: This scholarship program is intended to support promising high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in an approved engineering program and who live in communities where Electronic Systems is a major presence.

Additional Information: This scholarship program is intended to support promising high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in an approved engineering program and who live in communities where Electronic Systems is a major presence.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, renewable for three additional years. Renewal requirements apply. Students must remain in an accredited four-year college or university as a full-time student in an approved engineering program (School of Engineering). Annual renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study (minimum 3.0 grade point average). Recipients are required to accept summer internships two out of three summers.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $8,000.

Applications are available on Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholars website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following materials: an essay of 500 words or less describing his/her career goals; a list of all his/her extracurricular activities, community involvement and work experience; an official high school transcript (see application for details); and three letters of recommendation (one must be from the school principal). All applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CST on the deadline date. Documents must be postmarked by the deadline.
