Number of Awards & Eligibility: 15 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
  4. Must have a combined (reading and math) SAT score of 1100 or higher.
  5. Must be a graduating high school senior or current college student with under 60 credit hours of college coursework completed.
  6. Must plan to attend Southern New Hampshire University.
  7. Must plan to attend a college or university in New Hampshire.

Description: U.S. high school seniors with a grade point average of 3.2 and an SAT score of 1100 are eligible for this award. Students must be accepted into the Southern New Hampshire University Honors Program.

Application requirements for the SNHU Honors Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Essays (2)
  • Transfer Form
  • Transcript Request Form (transfers only)
  • Counselor Recommendation Form (freshmen only)
Additional Information: Students typically enter the program at the beginning of the freshman year, but transfer students may also be accepted if they have fewer than 60 transfer credits. Students in all majors are eligible, with the exception of those in the Three-Year Honors Program in Business. The current group of honors students as a whole has an incoming SAT combined of 1150 and grade point average of 3.55 out of 4.0.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, renewable for up to three years as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 grade point average every semester as well as grades of "B" or better in all Honors Program experiences. The recipient must participate in various Honors Program committees and campus organizations and be actively involved in running their own programs.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $8,000.

Additional information is available online from the Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) website. Each applicant accepted into the Honors Program will receive this award. For consideration, the student must first complete an admissions application; submit an essay of 250 or more words on one of the four topics listed within the application; and a 'Guidance Counselor Recommendation Form' (available within the application). Only freshman applicants need to submit the 'Guidance Counselor Recommendation Form'. Transfer students must submit the 'Supplemental Transfer Form', and a 'Transcript Request Form'. The application and essay may be submitted online, but the 'Supplemental Transfer Form' and 'Transcript Request Form' must be mailed to SNHU at the address provided. The student must indicate interest in the Honors Program (on the application or by contacting the university) and then submit a one- to two-page, double-spaced essay on the topic 'What do you enjoy learning and why?'. The priority deadline is March 15, but applications are accepted until all seats in the program are filled.
