Description: This award is for Tennessee high school juniors or seniors who are participating in a dual enrollment program with an eligible Tennessee postsecondary institution.

Additional Information: The Dual Enrollment Grant program is funded by the Tennessee Lottery and administered by the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation. The program provides opportunities for students to begin working toward a college degree, while still pursuing a high school diploma, and encourages postsecondary education and the acceleration of postsecondary attainment. The Dual Enrollment Grant program is defined as a grant for study at an eligible postsecondary institution that is funded from net proceeds of the state lottery and awarded to students who are attending an eligible high school and who are also enrolled in college courses at eligible postsecondary institutions for which they will receive college credit. Grant awards may only be used only for lower division (courses numbered 100-200 or 1000-2000) postsecondary credit for general education courses and courses in the disciplines. All students must meet the following eligibility criteria: comply with United States Selective Service System requirements for registration, if such requirements are applicable to the student; be in compliance with federal drug-free rules and laws for receiving financial assistance; not be in default on a federal Title IV educational loan or Tennessee educational loan; not owe a refund on a federal Title IV student financial aid program or a Tennessee student financial aid program; not be incarcerated; not have already received a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) diploma.

Award Amount: For high school juniors entering the program in the 2016-2017 academic year, payment will be as follows: up to $500 for the first course; up to $500 for the second course; up to $200 for the third course; no award for the fourth course. Students are limited to no more than two courses for each academic semester.A student's participation in the Dual Enrollment Grant program is limited to the remaining amount of time normally required to complete the high school diploma, from the time of initial participation in the program. The grant is available for the summer terms, prior to graduation from high school. Please note: Students who receive the Dual Enrollment Grant amount for more than four dual enrollment courses over the junior and senior years will have the amount reduced from their HOPE Scholarship on a dollar for dollar basis.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $556.
