Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an incoming first-time freshman.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 2.2 or lower. Please note: The student's grade point average may vary as long as he/she meets the USF Institutional Ranking requirement.
  4. Must have an ACT composite score of 25 or lower OR an SAT score of 1149 or lower. Please note: The student's test score(s) may vary as long as he/she meets the USF Institutional Ranking requirement.
  5. Must plan to attend the University of St. Francis in Indiana.
  6. Must plan to enroll full time.
  7. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This award is available to U.S. high school seniors who are planning to attend the University of St. Francis in, Indiana. Students must have an institutional ranking of 63.99 and below to be eligible for this award; the USF Institutional Ranking is a calculation of grade point average and ACT/SAT scores with a maximum score of 100.

Additional Information: Scholarships are based on an institutional ranking for first-time freshmen. 'Institutional Ranking' is a calculation of grade point average and test score with a maximum score of 100. An online scholarship calculator is available online at financialaid.sf.edu/paying-for-college/scholarship-calculator/. To be awarded the Challenge Grant, the student must have an Institutional Ranking of 63.99 or below. Awards cannot exceed tuition and fees after federal and state aid are applied.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years if the student maintains full-time enrollment. Renewal criteria is verified at the end of each spring semester.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.

Program information is available on the University of St. Francis (USF) website by clicking on the 'Academic Scholarship Program' link. To apply for this scholarship, the student must apply for admission to USF and be admitted. A separate scholarship application is not required. Admissions information is available online at admissions.sf.edu/apply/freshmen/. In addition to a completed online admissions application, the student must submit high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores. A high school student may apply for admission any time after having completed six semesters of high school and having taken either the SAT or ACT test. Applications must be received no later than March 10 for priority scholarship consideration.
