Number of Awards & Eligibility: Seven awards offered annually, one for each named scholarship.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a member of Zeal Credit Union (formerly Co-op Services Credit Union) in Michigan.
  3. Must reside in the United States.
  4. Must plan to enroll full time.
  5. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

Additional Information: There are seven scholarships awarded through Zeal Credit Union's scholarship program: the Harlan Richardson Scholarship, the Al Williams Scholarship, the Dutch Farr Scholarship, the Mark Stroebel Scholarship, the Margaret Kremer Hehman Scholarship, the William Allen Scholarship, and the James Cullimore Scholarship. Factors considered when awarding this scholarship are the following: grade point average; honors courses completed; extracurricular involvement in school, community, religious and charitable organizations; employment history, if applicable; letters of recommendation; and application essay. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on the information submitted and without regard to income, race, color, religion, national origin, sex, handicap, or familial status.

Award Amount: The Richardson and Williams scholarships are each worth $1,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years if the recipient maintains a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, based on at least 12 credit hours per semester, and remains a member of CSCU. The Dutch Farr Scholarship is worth $1,000 annually, renewable for up to two additional years if the recipient maintains a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, based on at least 12 credit hours per semester, and remains a member of CSCU. The Stroebel and Hehman scholarships are each worth $1,000 annually, non-renewable. The Allen and Cullimore scholarships are each worth $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in October for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online on the Zeal Credit Union website by clicking on the 'Member Benefits' tab and then selecting "Scholarship Application". In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a typed, double-spaced essay between 250 and 500 words on the topic listed on the application; contact information for two references; and a list of his/her extracurricular involvement in school, community, religious, and charitable organizations. The application and all supporting documentation must be submitted online by the deadline date.
