Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  2. Must be a current high school student.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: This award is for U.S. high school students (grades 9 through 12). Students must submit a proposal for a new idea in science, technology, or engineering.

Application requirements for the MIT THINK Scholars Program are:

Additional Information: The scholarship can be used at any college or university. The award includes $1,000 for the costs of the proposed project, an all-expense-paid trip for the student to MIT, as well as a visit to Techfair, tours of MIT research labs, and meetings with MIT professors and industry professionals. The trip will take place in early February.

Award Amount: $500 for grand prize, $300 for second place, and $200 for third.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Additional information is available on the provider's website. The student must first create an account on the MIT THINK website. Once completed, he/she must then upload a proposal describing his/her ideas, goals, and implementation procedures for the science, technology, or engineering project he/she is interested in completing. Projects may be anything from green technologies and practical devices, to software applications and more. The student may work alone or with one other student. The project must be completed in one semester and within a $1,000 budget. Proposals should be no more than 12 pages in length, and be typed in 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font, double-spaced, and uploaded as a PDF file. A sample proposal may be viewed by clicking 'Rules and Guidelines' under the 'Students' tab. All materials must be received by the deadline date.
