Description: This award is for Oklahoma high school students who are planning to attend college in Oklahoma. The student must be in 8th, 9th, or 10th grade at time of application, and have a family income of $50,000 or less.

Additional Information: Oklahoma's Promise is a state program, administered through the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, established to awards scholarships to students who have demonstrated a commitment to academic success in high school. The student must complete the program's high school requirements in order to receive the college scholarship. The requirements include the following: graduate from high school; achieve a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher for all coursework attempted in grades 9-12; complete the 17-unit college prep core curriculum. The curriculum courses are listed on the Oklahoma's Promise website. Homeschooled students and students graduating from a non-accredited high school must also achieve an ACT score of 22 or higher. Additional high school requirements are listed on the application and on the Oklahoma's Promise website. The student must also meet certain college requirements to receive the scholarship. The requirements include the following: shall meet normal admission standards for first-time entering students at the college or university to which the student applies; must meet the eligibility requirements to receive federal financial aid based on the college's Satisfactory Academic Progress policy; and must achieve a college grade point average of at least 2.00 for courses taken through the sophomore year and at least a 2.50 grade point average for courses taken during the junior and senior years. The student will lose the scholarship permanently if he/she is suspended from college for more than one semester for conduct reasons.

Award Amount: Oklahoma's Promise will pay tuition at an Oklahoma public two-year college or four-year university, or a portion of tuition at an accredited Oklahoma private college or university, or a portion of tuition for approved courses at public technology centers that grant credit toward an Associate in Applied Science degree. Students may receive awards for no more than five years after enrolling in college, or until the completion of a bachelor's degree.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,235.
