In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must identify as Jewish.
  2. Must be between the ages of 13 and 19 at the time of application.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: The Tikkin Olam Award is available for U.S. Jewish students who are between the ages of 13 and 19. To be eligible, students must demonstrate leadership through the completion of unpaid community service project(s).

Application requirements for the Tikkun Olam Awards are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
Additional Information: A complete application for the 2023 Awards requires only an application form submitted by the teen - formal nomination and/or reference letters are not required, though on page 3 of this application you will need to provide the names of three people who know and can speak to your leadership of the project for which you are applying.

Award Amount: $36,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $540,000.

Additional information about this award can be found online at the Diller Teen Initiatives website. To be considered for an award, students may be nominated or apply directly on their own behalf. Students who are nominated must provide at least one additional reference who will provide a letter of recommendation. Students who apply on their own behalf must submit at least two such recommendations. In addition to the letters of recommendation, application forms require the following: personal identification and contact information for the applicant; short answer responses regarding the student's community service activities; and a short statement on the applicant's relationship to Judaism. Additional documents may be submitted to support the student's application, but are not specifically required. All applications, recommendations, and supporting documents must be received online no later than the deadline date.
