In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. Must be a resident of Baltimore, MD.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must have a record of verifiable community service.
  6. This award is for U.S. students.
  7. Must have a combined SAT score of 950 or higher.

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors in Baltimore who have verifiable community service and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and a combined SAT score of 950 or higher.

Additional Information: Each year, MECU Baltimore provides multiple scholarship awards to local area high school seniors who demonstrate both academic merit and a commitment to community service. Awards will be provided in both categories, with some scholarships being provided to students who demonstrate the highest levels of academic excellence, and some scholarships provided to students who demonstrate community service that is beyond what is typical.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Information is available online at the CollegeBound Foundation website. Applications are only available online through the online portal. In addition to completing the CollegeBound Foundation Competitive Scholarship Application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation; a copy of his/her college acceptance letter(s); a typed two- to four-page essay describing the student's academic and professional goals, and steps taken in preparation of those goals; a listing and verification of community service activities; and a copy of his/her most recent high school transcript, including the first semester of the senior year. All application materials must be received online no later than the deadline date.
