Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be registered in an active Eagle Scout unit.
  2. Must be 18 years old or younger.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Description: This award is for high school seniors who are active in the BSA at the Eagle Scout level and are younger than 19 years old. Applicants must be U.S citizens or permanent residents and be registered in an active Eagle Scout Unit. Winner can receive up to $8,000. Click here to learn more and apply today!

Application requirements for the Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Four generational chart
  • Application form
Additional Information: The competition is conducted in three phases, local (Chapter), State (Society), and National. The competition is usually entered through the Chapter level. In some cases, the competition may be entered at the State level. You may not enter at the National level.

Award Amount: The National First Place winner will receive $8,000. The runner-up will receive $4,000. The 2nd runner-up will receive $2,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $14,000.

As part of the application, applicants will be asked to submit a generational chart showing the previous four generations of ancestors and to write a 500-word theme on a Revolutionary War-related topic of their choice. Applications are accepted during a calendar year for scholarships to be awarded in the Spring of the following year. A state chairman can give specific deadlines for receipt of applications at Chapter and/or State levels. All applications and supporting documents are due by the deadline date.
