  2. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must have a grade point averge of 3.0 or higher.

Description: The Dorothy Tutt Asbury Memorial Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors in Taft, Texas. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and must demonstrate a commitment to community service.

Additional Information: This scholarship is provided annually in memory of Dorothy Tutt Asbury, a longtime resident of Taft, Texas, who had a strong passion for learning and community service. Each year, one or more new scholarships will be awarded to local area students who share this enthusiasm for education and community participation. Award selection will considered academic achievement, as well as the difficulty of the applicant's academic course of study. The scholarship committee will also consider specific evidence provided in the application that demonstrates the applicant's commitment to community service through participation and involvement with local community groups. The administration and management of this scholarship is provided through the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. Originally founded in 1978, the GKCCF was designed to provide a single point of support and professional charity organization for various charitable organizations throughout the local area. Over the years, the scope of this mission has expanded to include grants, scholarships, and other philanthropic initiatives within Kansas City, throughout the Midwest, and even nation-wide. Award Amount: $1,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Application instructions and additional information about the Dorothy Tutt Asbury Memorial Scholarship are available online at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation (GKCCF) website. In addition to the completed online application form, applicants for this scholarship must submit the following: proof of financial need; transcripts or other records of academic performance that include a current or recent grade point average; and additional information about any leadership roles, community service, or volunteer efforts that may be pertinent to the award. Completed applications with all supporting documents must be received no later than the deadline date. Late and incomplete submissions will not be considered.
