Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must possess a valid California ID.
  3. Must be a high school senior.
  4. Must be enrolled in a California high school.
  5. Must be designated a "Sacramento Region Top Achiever" in one of the following California counties: Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba.
  6. Must rank in the top five percent of students in his/her graduating class for academic performance.
  7. Must plan to attend an accredited California four-year college or university in the fall.
  8. Must enroll full time.
  9. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: This scholarship is open to California high school seniors who are ranked in the top five percent of their class for academic performance in Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba counties. Students must plan to attend a California college or university.

Additional Information: The Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship Program is a collaborative effort between the Friends of the California State Fair, the California Exposition & State Fair, the California State Fair Agricultural Advisory Council, the Ironstone Concours D'Elegance Foundation, Blue Diamond Growers, and Western Fairs Association. An independent selection committee will evaluate the applications and select the recipients considering community service, academics, and the application essay(s). Notifications are sent to recipients and applicants not selected to receive an award via email mid to late April. The top scholarship winners in each category (if application score is at least 95 percent) qualify to compete for the overall $5,000 Ironstone Concours Foundation Scholarship Interview on a date TBA in Sacramento. The runner-up scholarship winner in any category with more than 20 qualified applicants will also have the opportunity to compete for the overall scholarship if his/her application score is at least 95 percent. Employees and immediate family members of employees and Board of Directors of the California Exposition and State Fair, Friends of the California State Fair, the California State Fair Agricultural Council, Cultural Advisory Committee, and the Ironstone Concours Foundation are not eligible for this program.

Award Amount: Scholarships range from $1,000 to $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.
