In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  4. Must have been a legal resident of Georgia for at least one year prior to application.
  5. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must have a combined SAT score of 1000 or higher (critical reading and math only), OR an ACT composite score of 22 or higher.
  7. Must have a demonstrated history of commitment to community service.
  8. Must not attend a public college or university in Georgia. Preference will be given to students attending selective private or out-of-state institutions.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available to Georgia high school seniors with demonstrated financial need who have been accepted for enrollment at selective private or out-of-state institutions (students attending public Georgia institutions ineligible). Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and an SAT score of 1000 or higher or an ACT score of 22 or higher.

Application requirements for the Nancy Penn Lyons Scholarship Fund are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • FAFSA
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Proof of residency
  • Tax return
Additional Information: Students must demonstrate financial need to be eligible for this award. Scholarships are awarded on a nondiscriminatory basis after careful review of eligible applications. Award recommendations are approved by The Community Foundation's Board of Directors, and scholarship awards are paid directly to the educational institutions where the successful candidates are enrolled.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, renewable for three additional years. Renewal students must submit the current year's renewal form to receive funding.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.
