Number of Awards & Eligibility: Five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must pursue a career related to dairy (production agriculture, manufacturing, marketing, agricultural law, business, veterinary medicine, research, and environmental sciences).
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must be a graduating four-year college senior.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Graduating college seniors who are planning to pursue a career in a dairy-related field are eligible for this award. Students must have demonstrated leadership skills, academic ability, and interest in dairy cattle.

Additional Information: The purpose of the Dairy Student Recognition Scholarship Program is to recognize eligible graduating college seniors who have demonstrated leadership skills, academic ability, and an interest in dairy cattle. Winners will be recognized at the National Dairy Shrine Awards Banquet.

Award Amount: The top student will receive $2,000; the second, $1,500; and the remaining winners will receive $1,000. All awards are non-renewable. Previous scholarship winners may not reapply; previous applicants who did not win a scholarship may reapply if still qualified.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,300.

Applications are available on the National Dairy Shrine (NDS) website. Please note: Only two applicants per college or university are accepted for this contest in any given year. Each student should download the application and type in his/her responses. The file should then be saved as Senior.Last Name.First Name.doc and emailed to the address provided. The applicant must also submit two letters of recommendation from the department chair or faculty members who are familiar with his/her activities and academic achievements and an official transcript showing all college courses and grades. The letters must be emailed to the address provided, and the transcript must be mailed to the address provided. (Only one transcript is required for all scholarships for which the student wishes to apply, although separate applications must be submitted.) Applications must be submitted by midnight CST on the deadline date.
