Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must enroll as a first-time college freshman. Wesleyan College defines this as either a graduating high school senior, or a student who has never attended college and graduated from high school or received a GED within the last three years.
  3. Must plan to attend Wesleyan College in Georgia.
  4. Must be a woman.
  5. Must have an SAT score of 1000 or higher (critical reading and math) OR an ACT composite score of 21 or higher.
  6. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  7. Must be an active member of a United Methodist Church and have church and school leadership experience.
  8. Must attend college or university in Georgia.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. and international students who enroll as first-time freshmen at Wesleyan College in Georgia (a women's college). Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and an SAT score of 1000 or higher or an ACT score of 21 or higher; students must also be active members of a United Methodist church.

Additional Information: The Margaret A. Pitts Endowed Scholarship for Methodist Students honors the memory of Margaret Pitts, a devout Methodist who was generous with both her resources and her time to Methodist causes throughout her life, by offering financial aid to Methodist women who have held leadership positions in their churches and schools. This scholarship has been funded through the generous support of the William I. H. and Lula E. Pitts Foundation, which was established by and named for Margaret Pitts’ parents. This scholarship replaces any previously awarded institutional scholarships.

Award Amount: $20,140 annually, renewable for three additional years if the student maintains a Wesleyan College grade point average of 2.75 or higher and is an active member of the Wesleyan Disciples.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $543,580.

Scholarship information is available online on the Wesleyan College website. To be considered for the scholarship, the student must apply for admission to Wesleyan College. A separate scholarship application is not required. Admission application information is available online at: www.wesleyancollege.edu/admission/index.cfm. The student must submit the following materials to apply for admission to Wesleyan College: a completed application for admission (by mail or online); a $30 application fee (waived if the student applies online); a personal statement of approximately 200 words; official high school transcripts or GED scores; a high school guidance counselor letter of recommendation; a teacher letter of recommendation (optional); and official ACT/SAT scores, or TOEFL/IELTS scores if an international student. International students must also submit a certificate of finance. Admission applications should be submitted by Jun 30. for scholarship priority.
