Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be currently enrolled as a graduate student.
  3. Must be majoring in library science.
  4. Must attend the University of South Florida (USF) or Florida State University.
  5. Must be a resident of Florida.

Description: This award is for Florida residents who are currently enrolled in a graduate program of library science. Applicants must be enrolled at the University of South Florida or Florida State University.

Application requirements for the Florida Library Association MLS Graduate Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Resume
  • Proof of enrollment
  • Proof of FLA membership
Additional Information: The Florida Library Association scholarships are provided annually from a dedicated fund and have been awarded since 1989. This fund is replenished through donations and fundraising activities. The primary fundraising activity is the Silent Auction held at the FLA Annual Conference. Students are encouraged to pursue a career in an academic or public library in Florida, but it is not required for eligibility. Applicants may apply for more than one scholarship if qualified.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications and information about this scholarship fund are available at the Florida Library Association at the web address provided. Application packets must be sent as one pdf file, and this file must include the following items in addition to the signed and completed application: A current resume; Three letters of recommendation; Proof of enrollment, such as a letter of acceptance or current transcript; and Proof of current FLA membership.
