Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies, based on the number of applicants and the amount of funds available.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a Georgia resident.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher OR, have earned a GED and score in the national composite 85th percentile or higher on the SAT or ACT tests.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident.
  5. Must graduate from an eligible high school in Georgia and plan to attend an eligible private, public, or technical college in Georgia.
  6. Must be high school senior or older.

Additional Information: The HOPE Scholarship Program is a merit-based scholarship program with specific academic and grade point average eligibility requirements. The purpose of the HOPE Scholarship Program is to encourage the academic achievement of Georgia’s high school students and Georgians seeking Degrees from postsecondary institutions located in Georgia. In addition to all other eligibility requirements, the student must meet the following criteria: be in compliance with Selective Service registration requirements; be in compliance with the Georgia Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990; not be in default or owe a refund on a student financial aid program; and maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the college.

Award Amount: The HOPE Scholarship covers a percentage of the tuition cost at eligible public colleges or universities within the University System of Georgia or Technical College System of Georgia. For the current academic year, award amounts range from $911 to $3,181 annually. To determine the exact award amount visit the Georgia Student Finance Commission Students website. Recipients are eligible to continue receiving awards until he/she has attempted 127 semester (190 quarter) hours of college degree credit or until the completion of a baccalaureate degree, whichever comes first.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.
