Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a high school senior.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
  5. Must have an SAT score of 1750 or higher OR an ACT score of 25 or higher.
  6. Must enroll full time.
  7. Must have been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors who have been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Students must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher and an SAT score of 1750 or higher or an ACT score of 25 or higher; students must demonstrate dedication to giving back to their community (volunteer work, speaking engagements, club and organization participation, etc.).

Additional Information: The Jill M. Balboni Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Jill Marie Balboni who lost her life long battle with cystic fibrosis in July 2013 at the age of 36. The Jill M. Balboni Memorial Scholarship has been established by four of Jill's lifelong friends. They want to take Jill's enthusiasm for life and "can do" attitude and apply that to their mission of providing a college scholarship to a young adult with CF who embodies all that Jill stood for and accomplished in her life. Applicants must be dedicated to giving back to their community (volunteer work, speaking engagements, club and organization participation, etc.). Awards will be announced by April 20.

Award Amount: $1,250 annually, renewable for three additional years (for a total of $5,000).  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in January for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available on the Cystic Fibrosis Scholarship Foundation (CFSF) website. Applications are generally accepted from Jan. 15 until March 24. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following materials: an essay of 500 words or more on the topic listed on the application; a copy of his/her and/or his/her parents' recent tax return; a note from his/her physician stating that he/she has been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis; an official high school transcript of grades through the first semester of the current academic year that includes ACT/SAT scores (appropriate official must complete transcript section of the application); and a completed reference form from a counselor, administrator, or faculty member. Applications must be mailed to the address provided and must be postmarked by the deadline date.
