Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards provided depends on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  2. Must attend Escalante, Panguitch, and Bryce Valley High School in Panguitch, UT.
  3. Must be applying to one of the Forbes Top 400 colleges, and must demonstrate an academically competitive record.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.

Additional Information: The Ostergar Grants Fund provides schlarships to students at Escalante, Panguitch High and Bryce Valley High Schools in Panguitch, UT. To be eligible for this award, students must be planning to apply to and attend one of the top 400 national colleges or universities, as defined by Forbes Magazine.

Award Amount: The award provides funding to assist with application fees, and in some cases, travel to visit schools. Typical awards are approximately $500.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications for this award are available online from the Community Foundation of Utah website. Students who are applying for a scholarship provided through the Ostergar Grants Fund must submit an online application form that includes the following items: a nomination form completed by a selection committee or key administrator at the student's high school; current high school transcripts including GPA; and a list of colleges or universities that the student has been accepted to or applied to, or is planning to apply to. All applicants must also include: one letter of recommendation; a copy of financial aid documents, such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA); and the required 300 word essay. If the student has not completed a FAFSA report, he or she must write about financial need in the essay. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and will be reviewed on the 15th of each month.
