Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  2. Must attend Poughkeepsie High School in Poughkeepsie, New York.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must plan to enroll at least part time at an accredited college or university.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Description: This award is available for graduating seniors at Poughkeepsie High School in Poughkeepsie, New York. Selection is based on financial need, academic achievement, and community involvement.

Additional Information: This scholarship will be awarded each year to high school seniors graduating from Poughkeepsie High School. Applicants must plan to enroll at an accredited educational institution in the United States.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
