Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. Only highly qualified students from the scholarship pool will be selected for the limited number of awards.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must be a full-time student.
  3. Must demonstrate academic achievement.
  4. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  5. Must plan to attend the University of Arizona.

Description: International high school seniors with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher who are planning to attend the University of Arizona are eligible for this award. Students will be considered upon admission to the university.

Application requirements for the University of Arizona International Tuition Award for Freshmen Students are:

  • TOEFL/SAT scores
  • Diploma
  • Financial statement
Additional Information: A limited number of merit-based scholarships will be awarded to international students based upon their application for admission. Applicants must demonstrate significant international experience during high school and who exhibit outstanding academic records. All applicants are strongly encouraged to take the ACT and/or SAT and include those scores with the admissions application. Students selected for this scholarship will receive an email from International Student Programs.

Award Amount: $4,000 to $35,000 annually, renewable for three years as long as the recipient completes 30 credit hours each academic year and maintains a grade point average of 3.25 or higher each semester. This award covers a portion of non-resident tuition only. Tuition does not include fees, surcharges, room and board, books or other expenses. Offers are non-negotiable and are not increased to match offers from other institutions. Awards are not offered for any summer term. This award may not be combined with a MacBook, iPad, National Merit Finalist, National Achievement, National Hispanic Award, Transfer Academic Achievement Award, Phi Theta Kappa Award, some ROTC Tuition Awards, the Arizona-Sonoran Tuition Award, and some departmental tuition awards depending on type and amount. This scholarship may be reduced each year the Qualified Tuition Reduction (QTR) (a benefit for faculty and staff) is utilized or other tuition reduction programs are utilized. Students in the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Program are not eligible for this award.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $78,000.

There is not a separate application for this award. All freshmen international students accepted to the University of Arizona are automatically considered for a scholarship. Applications for admission are available online from the University of Arizona website. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit the school's application fee, an official TOEFL score report, his/her official academic records and certified English translations, his/her diploma or leaving certificate, and an official bank-certified 'Financial Guarantee Statement'. The university also recommends that the student submit SAT and/or ACT scores, in order to enhance his/her chance of being considered for the tuition waiver and to increase the available amount of provided scholarships. Students must apply by April 1 for consideration during the following fall semester.
