Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a sophomore or junior undergraduate student who is currently enrolled and attending at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States. Freshman- and senior-level students are ineligible to apply.
  4. Must be enrolled part time or full time.
  5. Must be an active-duty service personnel, honorably discharged U.S. military veteran, reservist, or National Guard personnel who served in Afghanistan and/or Iraq.
  6. Must be majoring in the following or C4I-related fields related to the mission of AFCEA: biometry/biometrics, computer engineering, computer forensics science, computer programming, computer science, computer systems, cybersecurity, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, geospatial science, information science, information technology, information resource management, intelligence, mathematics, network engineering, network security, operations, research, physics, robotics engineering, robotics technology, statistics, strategic intelligence, and telecommunications engineering.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to college sophomores and juniors who are U.S. Armed Forces and National Guard personnel, currently on active-duty or honorably discharged veterans, or reservists who served in Iraq and/or Afghanistan. Students must major in fields related to the mission of AFCEA and have a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Application requirements for the AFCEA War Veterans Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Proof of military service
Additional Information: The AFCEA Educational Foundation is dedicated to providing academic support to U.S. military personnel. Scholarships are made possible in part by generous contributions from the AFCEA Northern Virginia Chapter. Distance-learning or online programs affiliated with a major U.S. institution are eligible.

Award Amount: $2,500 scholarships offered.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.
