Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a Native American.
  4. Must be enrolled full time.
  5. Must be currently enrolled at the undergraduate or graduate level. Please note: Preference is given to undergraduate students.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: A student is only eligible for one scholarship from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). Awards are based on academic excellence, commitment to field of study, and/or financial need, or other restrictions on specific scholarships. No affiliation with DAR is necessary unless specified. Scholarships are awarded regardless of race, religion, sex or national origin. Only winners are notified by the National DAR Scholarship Chairman following the approval of a ruling by the executive committee of the NSDAR.

Award Amount: Amount varies  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications and information about this award are available at the Daughters of the American Revolution website at the link provided. Students are not required to obtain sponsorship by a local or state DAR chapter; however, a chapter or state chairman may work with the applicant to put the information together to send to the DAR Scholarship Committee. To be considered for this award, students must submit the following items: the application form; the financial information form; a typed statement of up to 1,000 words describing the applicant's career goals; original high school and/or college transcripts; at least two but no more than four letters of recommendation detailing the applicant's ability, work ethic, character, and/or volunteer activities; a listing of extracurricular activities, awards, and academic honors; and proof of citizenship such as a passport, naturalization papers, or birth certificate. Any photos of the applicant included in citizenship documentation must be covered, and any other photo submissions will be automatic grounds for disqualification. Applications and supporting documents must be submitted online no later than the deadline date. Incorrect applications or applications mailed to the incorrect address are discarded. No records are returned.
