Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
  4. Must be a Native American.
  5. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award. Please note: Undergraduate students are given preference.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who are Native Americans (preference is given to undergraduate students). Students must have a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.

Application requirements for the NSDAR American Indian Scholarship are:

  • Personal statement
  • Proof of descent
  • Photocopy of U.S. citizenship
  • Official Transcript
  • Application form
  • Recommendation letter
Additional Information: A student is only eligible for one scholarship from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). No affiliation with DAR is necessary unless specified. Scholarships are awarded regardless of race, religion, sex or national origin. Only winners are notified by the National DAR Scholarship Chairman following the approval of a ruling by the executive committee of the NSDAR.

Award Amount: $4,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

The application form may be found on the DAR website. In addition to a completed application, applicants must submit: Original transcripts; Photocopy of U.S. citizenship; a self-addressed stamped postcard; 2-4 Letters of recommendation; Personal statement of 1,000 words or less describing career objectives; List of extracurricular activities; Proof of American Indian descent. Only applications completed correctly and online will be considered. Applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
