Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a female.
  2. Must be from a minority background- African-American, Asian, Pacific Island, Native American, Native Alaskan,or Hispanic descent.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. legal resident.
  4. Must be high school seniors accepted to attend a full-time course of study at an accredited post-secondary institution in the United States.
  5. Must have a background in golf and plan to play competitive golf atan accredited college or university in the United States.
  6. Must demonstrate financial need.
  7. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Description: The LPGA Foundation supports women and young people through programs and initiatives aimed at empowering them through the game of golf. Since its founding, The LPGA Foundation has touched more than 500,000 lives through various scholarship and financial assistance programs, along with its flagship junior golf program, LPGA*USGA Girls Golf.

Additional Information: The Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship is granted annually through The LPGA Foundation and the Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship Fund. Established in 2006, the objective of the Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship is to provide a need-based scholarship to a female high school senior from a recognized minority background who will be pursuing a full-time course of study and playing collegiate golf at an accredited college or university in the United States. The Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship is a need-based award granted to a high school senior from a recognized minority background who will be playing golf at the collegiate level. Qualifications for all scholarships include strong academic programs, community service and recommendations.

Award Amount: $5,000 awards.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.
