Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship will be provided annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled at a Ventura County community college.
  2. Must be female.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must reside in Ventura County, California.
  5. Must be majoring in the physical or natural sciences.

Description: The Katherine M. Wakelee Scholarship Fund is provided to female students in Ventura County, CA who are majoring in the physical sciences. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors or enrolled at a Ventura County Community College at the time of application.

Additional Information: The Katherine M. Wakelee Scholarship Fund is provided annually to Ventura County women who are currently graduating seniors or enrolled at a Ventura County community college. Applicants must be majoring in physical sciences, must demonstrate high levels of academic achievement, and must have unmet financial need. Additional preference will be given to applicants who are majoring in biology, as well as first-generation students who are the first in their families to attend college.

Award Amount: $2000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications for and additional details about the Katherine M. Wakelee Scholarship Fund are available online at the Ventura County Community Foundation website. To apply for this scholarship, students must complete all sections of the online application form. Applicants must also submit an original essay in response to the award's topic, as well as two letters of recommendation. At least one letter of recommendation must be submitted by a current faculty member at the school the student is attending. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
