Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. *Please note: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of students meeting the eligibility requirements in any give year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Hardee, Highlands, or De Soto counties, Florida.
  4. Must attend or plan to attend South Florida Community College.
  5. Must be between the ages of 17 and 24.
  6. Must be enrolled a minimum of half time.
  7. Must pursue a vocational degree.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. students between the ages of 17 and 24. The applicant must be a resident of the South Florida Community College service district and be enrolled or planning to enroll at least part time in a vocational program. Preference will be given to residents of Highlands County, FL.

Additional Information: *Please note: This award is for students enrolled or enrolling in a vocational program. The scholarship is not available to students intending to pursue a four-year baccalaureate degree. Preference will be given to residents of Highlands County, FL. The student must demonstrate financial need. All South Florida Community College scholarship recipients are required to reapply every academic year, as well as maintain the specified required grade point average.

Award Amount: The monetary award amount varies according to the applicant's financial need. This award is non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,600.

Applications are avaliable online from the South Florida Community College (SFCC) website. In addition to the completed and signed application, the student must attach a biographical statment describing the topics listed on the application. *Please note: All students applying for financial assistance at SFCC must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the deadline date. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. In addition, students must also apply for admission to SFCC. Students may access the online and downloadable paper application from the SFCC website. A completed admission application will include all high school and/or college transcripts. Scholarship applications are accepted throughout the year; however, applicants are encouraged to submit their applications by a priority deadline date. Current SFCC students should submit their applications by the following priority deadlines: June 15 for fall, Oct. 15 for spring, and March 15 for the summer term. Graduating high school seniors should apply by March 15 through their high schools. If priority deadlines are missed, applicants are still encouraged to submit their scholarship application; however, the scholarship application will be considered for the following term.
