Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies annually based on the number of eligible students and available funding. In the 2014-2015 academic year, there were 2,482 initial awards disbursed. OSFA forwards award funding to participating postsecondary institutions. Each postsecondary institution distributes awards to eligible students.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Florida.
  4. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll in a baccalaureate degree program.
  5. Must enroll full time (12 credit hours or more per term/semester).
  6. Must attend an eligible private college or university in Florida.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to Florida undergraduate students who are attending an eligible Florida private postsecondary institution. Students must apply through their institution's financial aid office.

Additional Information: The Access to Better Learning and Education (ABLE) Grant Program provides tuition assistance to undergraduate students who are enrolled in degree programs at eligible private Florida colleges or universities. Students must meet the general eligibility requirements for receipt of state aid in the state of Florida and must not: owe repayment of a grant under any state or federal grant or scholarship program; be in default on any federal Title IV or state student loan program unless satisfactory arrangements to repay have been made; have previously received a bachelor's degree; or be enrolled in a program of study leading to a degree in theology or divinity.

Award Amount: The annual award amount is $1,500. A student is eligible to receive an award for a maximum of 9 semesters or 14 quarters. Undergraduate students participating in college-preparatory instruction, students requiring additional time to complete the college-level communication and computation skills testing programs (CLAST), or students enrolled in a five-year undergraduate degree program are eligible to receive financial aid for a maximum of 10 semesters or 15 quarters. A renewal applicant must have earned a minimum institutional cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and earned the equivalent of 12 credit hours for each term an award was received during the academic year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,074.
