Bay Area Mobility Management

Number of Awards & Eligibility: At least one award offered annually. In 2015, two scholarships were awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a current high school senior in good standing.
  3. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Must currently be attending a San Francisco Bay Area public high school. The student must have relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area from more than 50 miles away during 9th-12th grades and must have had to change schools as a result of the relocation.

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors currently attending a high school in the San Francisco Bay Area who relocated to the area from more than 50 miles away during 9th-12th grades and had to change schools as a result of the relocation. Students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: Bay Area Mobility Management is a non-profit organization that brings together corporations and relocation service providers in and around the San Francisco Bay Area for the primary purpose of providing educational information and current industry updates to its members. Applicants will be evaluated on academic performance, standard test scores, extracurricular activities, financial need, and an essay addressing the way they handled the challenges associated with relocating to a new high school. Scholarships will be awarded at a mid-year meeting in 2016.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online on the Bay Area Mobility Management (BAMM) website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following: a list of all of his/her extracurricular activities and work experience during high school (i.e., after eighth grade); a double-spaced personal essay of 1,000 to 1,500 words that will help the Scholarship Selection Committee members learn about his/her personal history, perspectives, personal and career goals, interests, and education plans, including the challenges and experiences encountered while relocating to his/her new home and school as well as any successes achieved; and a copy of transcripts/test scores. Please note: One section of the application must be completed by the student's guidance department or an appropriate high school official. All application materials except for the essay may be submitted via fax or email using the contact information provided. The essay must be emailed as a Word or PDF document to the email address provided. All materials must be received by the deadline date.
