Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. Last year, one scholarship was awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must plan to attend or currently attend a two- or four-year college, technical school, or university.
  3. Must possess an active amateur radio license (any class).
  4. Must submit documents of learning disability (by physician or school) and indications that he/she is putting forth substantial effort regardless of resulting academic grades.

Additional Information: The Challenge Met Scholarship is designed to assist in the educational pursuits of licensed amateur radio operators who have been diagnosed with a learning disability. Recipients are typically notified by mid-May by USPS mail and email.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available on the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Foundation website. Applications must be completed online. Students need only submit one application for all scholarships for which they are eligible. The student must provide contact information for one educational reference, one character reference, and one social reference on the online application. The student must also submit a copy of his/her academic transcript from his/her most recently completed school year to the email address provided. The transcript must be scanned and submitted as a PDF.
