Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior to apply for this freshman year award.
  4. Must attend the CIA in California.

Description: U.S. graduating high school seniors who demonstrate merit and plan to attend CIA in California are eligible for this award.

Application requirements for the CIA-California Merit-Based Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The CIA's merit scholarship system takes a good look at the student—his/her past academic performance, foodservice experience, extracurricular activities—to determine if he/she qualifies for a CIA Merit-Based Scholarship.

Award Amount: $5,000 to $6,000 annually, renewable for up to three years as long as the recipient maintains a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $22,000.
