Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or non-citizen eligible under Title IV regulations.
  3. Must be a permanent legal resident of Massachusetts.
  4. Must enroll, as a matriculated student, in an eligible undergraduate degree program (full or part time).
  5. Must study early childhood education or a related field (i.e., elementary education, sociology, psychology).
  6. Must have been employed, for at least one year, as an educator or provider in an early education and care program or out of school time program that is licensed or authorized by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and continue employment in this field while pursuing the approved course of study.
  7. Must attend an eligible Massachusetts postsecondary institution. For the purpose of the Early Childhood Educators Scholarship, an eligible institution is defined as a regionally accredited public or private college or university in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that offers an early childhood education program of study or program in a related field. A list of eligible institutions is available on the MOSFA website.

Description: This scholarship is open to Massachusetts undergraduate students who are matriculated in a degree program in early childhood education or a related field (i.e., elementary education, sociology, psychology). Students must be employed, for at least one year, as an educator or provider in an early education and care program or out of school time program that is licensed or authorized by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and continue employment in this field while pursuing the approved course of study.

Additional Information: All applicants must meet the following criteria: be in compliance with Selective Service Registration; not be in default of any federal or state student loans for attendance at any institution or owe a refund for any previous financial aid received. Applicants must sign an agreement to continue employment as an early childhood educator or provider in Massachusetts upon completing the degree requirement, or repay funds as defined.

Award Amount: Up to $4,500 per semester  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,500.
