Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 50 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  3. Must be a resident of Oregon or Clark County, Washington.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be of Hispanic heritage.
  6. Must be currently enrolled in or accepted to an undergraduate program.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to U.S. students of Hispanic descent who are currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in an undergraduate program. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and must be a resident of Oregon or Clark County, Washington.

Additional Information: To provide support and encourage Hispanics to continue their higher education, The Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber provides annual scholarship awards to qualifying applicants. Since 1996, the Hispanic Chamber has awarded over $1.8 million in individually and corporate sponsored scholarships, to more than 500 Latino students throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. Students who are attending the following universities may also be eligible for additional matching funds: Oregon State University, University of Oregon, University of Portland, Linfield College, George Fox University, Lewis & Clark College, Portland State University, Western Oregon University, or Whitman College.

Award Amount: $1,000 to $5,000 annually, non-renewable. Students who are attending participating universities may be eligible for matching funds from their educational institution.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications and information are available from the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber of Oregon website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application form, students must submit the following items: two letters of reference; official transcripts of the last two academic years; a list of current activities such as community service and/or employment; and a list of all awards and honors received. All applications and supporting documents must be received online by the deadline.
