In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have lost a parent of guardian to cancer.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate students who have lost a parent or guardian to cancer. Applications will be evaluated on the students' personal stories, academic achievements, and unmet financial need.

Additional Information: The National Collegiate Cancer Foundation established this scholarship program to provide financial support to college students who have lost a parent or guardian to cancer. The student will be evaluated based on attitude with respect to his/her cancer experience; quality of essays; financial need; notable accomplishments; and quality of recommendations. Applicants will be notified by July 1.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the National Collegiate Cancer Foundation (NCCF) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a copy of his/her official college transcript (high school seniors should send a high school transcript and a copy of their college acceptance letter); two letters of recommendation, one from a non-family member and one from a peer (each recommender should include his/her name, address, email, and phone number within the letter); a resume or list of awards, honors, organizational memberships, volunteer work, and community service; and short essay responses to each of the four questions listed on the application. The student must write his/her name on each page of each document he/she submits, as well as in the upper right-hand corner of each page of the application. All application materials (including recommendations) must be submitted together to the address provided, postmarked by the deadline date. The student may also scan and email the application to the address provided.
