Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 15 awards disbursed annually (12 to Florida residents and 3 to non-Florida residents).
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be an incoming first-time college freshman.
  4. Must designate New College of Florida as the first-choice school.
  5. Must be a National Merit Finalist, National Achievement Finalist, or National Hispanic Scholar.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. high school seniors who are National Merit or Achievement Finalists, or National Hispanic Scholars and plan to attend New College of Florida.

Application requirements for the New College of Florida Excellence Award are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Admissions to NCF
  • Test scores
  • Essay
Additional Information: National Merit finalist, National Achievement finalist, and National Hispanic scholar applicants must designate New College of Florida as their first-choice school according to National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) procedures. All eligible students who meet the admission criteria to NFC will receive funding through this program.

Award Amount: Florida students will receive up to $4,000 annually, renewable for three additional years. Out-of-state students will receive $17,500 annually, renewable for three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $43,000.

To apply, students must apply for admission to the New College of Florida (NFC). No separate scholarship application is required. Interested students must contact New College of Florida admissions by phone, e-mail, mail, or website to request an application packet, or apply online from the college website. In addition, students must also submit the following materials: an application essay; an official transcript from each secondary and postsecondary school attended (GED recipients must submit a copy of their GED scores and official high school transcripts); standardized test results (SAT or ACT); and a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, college adviser, principal, dean, or teacher who has taught him/her in an academic subject within the past two years. Recommenders must use the NCF recommendation form or the form included with the Common Application, and must submit the recommendation directly to NCF. All required materials (including official transcripts, exam scores, and the recommendation) must be postmarked or transmitted on or before the deadline and received by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid no later than 10 days after the deadline.
