Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 3,000 awards disbursed each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident.
  3. Must be a South Carolina resident at the time of high school graduation and at the time of college enrollment.
  4. Must plan to enroll full-time.
  5. Must earn a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on the SC Uniform Grading Policy upon high school graduation.
  6. Must be a first-time entering freshman.
  7. Must plan to attend an eligible South Carolina public or private college or university.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for South Carolina resident high school seniors who plan to attend an eligible South Carolina public or private college or university. The student must have a cumulative grade point ratio of 3.0 or higher based on the Uniform Grading Scale upon high school graduation.

Application requirements for the South Carolina HOPE Scholarship Program are:

  • Official Transcript (determines eligibility)
Additional Information: In addition to all other eligibility requirements, the student must meet the following criteria: certify that he/she has never been convicted of any felonies and has not been convicted of any second alcohol or other drug-related misdemeanor convictions within the past academic year; verify that he/she is not in default and does not owe a refund or repayment on any federal or state financial aid; and must not be a recipient of a LIFE Scholarship, Palmetto Fellows Scholarship, or Lottery Tuition Assistance.

Award Amount: Up to $2,800 (including a $300 book allowance) toward the cost of attendance, non-renewable. Half of the award is disbursed in the fall term and half in the spring term.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,800.
