In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  2. Must be a resident of Franklin, Maine.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must attend the University of Maine.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Additional Information: The University of Maine's residency scholarships are intended to attract and retain top academic achievers from diverse areas of Maine and surrounding states who seek intellectual stimulation and opportunities for personal development. This award, in honor of Maine Adelaide G. Bunker, is for students who reside in the towns of Franklin, Maine. Selection will be done in consultation with Sumner Memorial High School.

Award Amount: $500 to $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $750.

Detailed information about this scholarship is available online on the University of Maine (UMaine) website. Applications for University of Maine residency-based scholarships must be accompanied by a certification of town residency that includes a town clerk's official seal. Upon receipt of the residency certification and information release form, the University of Maine will provide additional documentation regarding financial need, academic records, etc. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but for full consideration, should be submitted by the priority deadline.
