Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to 2 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must enroll full time.
  4. Must be a female.
  5. Must reside in a town served by Craftsbury Academy, Lake Region Union High School, or North Country Union High School. The eligible towns are as follows: Albany; Barton; Brighton; Brownington; Charleston; Coventry; Craftsbury; Derby; Glover; Greensboro; Hardwick; Holland; Irasburg; Jay; Lowell; Morgan; Newport City; Newport Town; Orleans; Stannard; Troy; Westfield; Westmore; Wolcott; and Woodbury.
  6. Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree.
  7. Must demonstrate academic achievement and show promise of continued academic excellence.

Description: This award is for Vermont female undergraduate students who reside in one of 25 towns served by the following high schools: Craftsbury Academy, Lake Region Union High School, and North Country Union High School. Students must demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, and school/community involvement.

Additional Information: This scholarship is funded by an endowment subject to laws restricting disbursements under certain investment yield scenarios; as a result, there can be no guarantee of a scholarship award for the upcoming academic year. Eligible students must meet the following requirements: attend an accredited postsecondary school approved for federal Title IV funding; demonstrate school/community involvement; and demonstrate financial need. An average of 60 applications are received for this scholarship each year.

Award Amount: Up to $3,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $9,000.

Applications are available from the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) website. Applications may be completed either online or in paper form beginning on November 1. Please note: The student is only required to submit one application for all scholarships for which he/she wishes to apply. In addition, if a particular document is required for more than one scholarship, the student need only submit one copy of that document. To apply, the student must complete and submit the VSAC Unified Scholarship Application and submit the following materials: a letter of recommendation; an essay; and official transcripts. NOTE: Required additional materials MUST conform to the detailed instructions in the VSAC Scholarships Booklet. The student is highly encouraged to review the booklet thoroughly when assembling materials. Electronic applications and any digital versions of supplemental materials must be submitted by midnight on the deadline date. Paper applications or any supplemental materials in paper form must be postmarked by the deadline date.
