Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 20 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  2. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must be employed by a grocery store or have a parent or guardian who is employed by a grocery store.
  5. Must attend a college or university in North Carolina.
  6. Must be a resident of North Carolina.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for current undergraduate students in North Carolina who are employed by a grocery store or who have a parent/guardian who is employed by a grocer.

Additional Information: The Everett and Trudy Suddreth Scholarships of Excellence is provided annually by the Carolinas Food Industry Council (CFIC) and the Retail Consumer Alliance (RCA) of North Carolina. The Retail Consumer Alliance (RCA) was organized in 2008 to foster stronger community partnerships between consumers and the retail industry. This is accomplished through the funding of the annual educational scholarship programs and making an annual contribution to the Feeding America Food Banks for North and South Carolina.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications and information about this award are available online at the Carolinas Food Industry Council (CFIC) website using the link provided. In addition to the completed application form, students must submit the following items: employment history and work verification; a release form allowing the CFIC access to academic information; the essay section; a list of extracurricular and volunteer activities; and an official transcript of all college coursework completed. All applications and supporting documents must be postmarked no later than the deadline date.
