Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be working toward a Bachelor of Science in Dairy/Animal Science or have an emphasis on dairy through another major.
  3. Must have placed in the top 25 in either the National 4-H Dairy Judging or National FFA Dairy Cattle Evaluation Contests.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must have achieved college junior or senior status.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. college juniors and seniors who are majoring in dairy/animal science or has a major emphasis on dairy through another major. Students must have placed in the top 25 at one of the three most recent National 4-H or FFA Dairy Judging Contests.

Additional Information: H.H. Kildee, long time Dean of the College of Agriculture at Iowa State University, was an outstanding judge of dairy cattle and supporter of student judging programs and activities. In 1999, National Dairy Shrine established an undergraduate scholarship in his honor. The winner will be recognized at the National Dairy Shrine Awards Banquet.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Previous scholarship winners may not reapply; previous applicants who did not win a scholarship may reapply if still qualified.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the National Dairy Shrine (NDS) website. Each student should download the application and type in his/her responses. The file should then be saved as KU.Last Name.First Name.doc and emailed to the address provided. The applicant must also submit two letters of recommendation from the department chair or faculty members who are familiar with his/her activities and academic achievements and an official transcript showing all college courses and grades. The letters must be emailed to the address provided, and the transcript must be mailed to the address provided. (Only one transcript is required for all scholarships for which the student wishes to apply, although separate applications must be submitted.) Applications must be submitted by midnight CST on the deadline date.
