Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must major in the field of horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, conservation, forestry, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control, soil science, or city planning.
  3. Must be a college sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student to apply.
  4. Priority is given to residents of the St. Croix District in Maine (Hancock and southern Washington counties).
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for college juniors, seniors and graduate students who are residents of Maine and majoring in a field related to horticulture or gardening. Preference will be given to students who are from the St. Croix region of the state.

Additional Information: Awards are based on aptitude in the field of horticulture, financial need, academic record, vocational interests & potential, and character.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available from the St. Croix District Garden Clubs website using the contact information provided. All forms and materials must be typed or computer generated. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: three letters of recommendation; original sealed transcript(s); and a personal letter about his/her professional goals, financial challenges, background, and commitment. The three letters of recommendation should each describe one of the following topics: academic ability; work-related experience; and a personal reference. A completed application form and all supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
