Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to ten awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must be a resident of Alabama.
  4. Must be a current member of an Alabama Phi Theta Kappa chapter.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  6. Must plan to attend Athens State University in Alabama.
  7. Must be a new entering student with a minimum of 36 transfer credit hours and plan to enroll immediately in Athens State University in Alabama after completion of coursework at the two-year college level. Students must not have more than six hours of coursework attempted at ASU by the end of the spring term of application year.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This undergraduate award is for U.S. students who reside in Alabama and are current members of Phi Theta Kappa. The student must a have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, as well as a minimum of 36 transfer credit hours, and plan to enroll in Athens State University in Alabama immediately after completing coursework at the two-year college level.

Application requirements for the Athens State University Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship are:

Additional Information: This scholarship is in the form of a tuition waiver only and will not pay in combination with any other ASU institutional scholarship.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, renewable for an additional year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications are available online at the Athens State University (ASU) website. The student must submit a complete ASU application form, official transcripts from all prior colleges, two letters of recommendation from faculty members at transfer institutions, a letter verifying membership in Phi Theta Kappa from an adviser at transfer institution, and an essay outlining why the student feels he/she is deserving of the scholarship, as well as what he/she has to offer the university and any other significant accomplishments, activities or honors. The student must submit his/her application to Student Financial Services before 4:30 p.m. EST by the deadline date.
