In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  3. Must be the head of the household.
  4. Must be single (never married), legally separated, divorced, or widowed.
  5. Must be a current college student enrolled full time or part time.
  6. Must be a resident of Crawford, Franklin, or Sebastian counties, Arkansas.
  7. Must have sole custody of a child or children under the age of 18.
  8. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  9. Must be a high school graduate at time of application and be pursuing a career-oriented undergraduate course of study.
  10. Must attend one of the following colleges: University of Arkansas-Fort Smith; Arkansas Tech University-Ozark or Russellville campuses; John Brown University; Carl Albert State College; University of the Ozarks; or Arthur's Beauty School. The student may attend other colleges with the approval of the scholarship committee.

Description: The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund services 68 of the 75 counties in Arkansas along with Bowie County, TX. We provide scholarships to single parents pursuing postsecondary education. Applying for one of the single parent scholarships offered by ASPSF is easy! Follow the steps outlined below, and you will be on your way.

Application requirements for the Crawford, Sebastian, and Franklin Counties Single Parent Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Interview
  • Recommendation letter
  • FAFSA
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Class schedule
  • Electric bill
  • Tax return
Additional Information: All applicants must complete an interview with the Single Parent Scholarship committee. An interview will be scheduled with each applicant following the application deadline.

Award Amount: Up to $750 per semester. This award is non-renewable. The amount of the scholarship decreases as the number of credit hours decreases.Scholarships may be used for tuition, books, utility bills, car maintenance, childcare, or any other financial need. Students must reapply each semester in order to be considered for renewal funds.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $750.
