Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Preference is given to applicants attending Arizona State University. If no qualified applicant is identified, the scholarship may be awarded to an applicant enrolled at any accredited graduate school or four-year undergraduate school.
  3. Must possess an active amateur radio license (general class or higher).
  4. Must be studying in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: This scholarship is open to international and U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who are licensed radio amateurs (general class or higher) majoring in a science, technology, engineering, or math field. Preference is given to applicants attending Arizona State University; if no qualified applicant is identified, the scholarship may be awarded to an applicant enrolled at any accredited graduate school or four-year undergraduate school.

Additional Information: The Dan Huettl, WZ7U, Memorial Scholarship is provided to STEM majors who have a general class or higher amateur radio license. Additional preference will be given to students who are attending Arizona State University. Recipients are typically notified by mid-May by USPS mail and email.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually. Students of Arizona State University may receive this scholarship multiple times (provided they reapply each year and continue to meet eligibility requirements), up to four years for undergraduate study and up to two years for graduate study. Students attending other schools may receive this scholarship one time.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
