Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must have a high school diploma. Students may be pursuing any type of postsecondary education/training (certificate, degree, etc.).
  4. Must reside in Brighton, Charleston, Coventry, Derby, Holland, Jay, Lowell, Morgan, Newport City, Newport Town, Troy, North Troy, or Westfield, and/or graduate/have graduated from North Country Union High School. Preference is given to applicants who live/lived with a parent who is a resident of Lowell at the time the applicant graduated from high school.
  5. Must demonstrate financial need.
  6. Must enroll on a half-time (six credit hours) basis or higher.

Description: This scholarship is open to Vermont students with a high school diploma who reside in Brighton, Charleston, Coventry, Derby, Holland, Jay, Lowell, Morgan, Newport City, Newport Town, Troy, North Troy, or Westfield, and/or graduate/have graduated from North Country Union High School. Students must demonstrate participation in extracurricular activities/community involvement or service, financial need, and education/work ethic.

Additional Information: This scholarship was established to provide financial support to students with a high school diploma, including students who have successfully completed a home schooling program. Applicants must demonstrate participation in extracurricular activities and/or community involvement/service, and must demonstrate education/work ethic. Selection is based on application documents and financial need.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available from the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) website. Applications may be completed either online or in paper form beginning on November 1. Please note: The student is only required to submit one application for all scholarships for which he/she wishes to apply. In addition, if a particular document is required for more than one scholarship, the student need only submit one copy of that document. To apply, the student must complete and submit the VSAC Unified Scholarship Application and submit the following materials: a letter of recommendation; an essay; and official transcripts. NOTE: Required additional materials MUST conform to the detailed instructions in the VSAC Scholarships Booklet. The student is highly encouraged to review the booklet thoroughly when assembling materials. Electronic applications and any digital versions of supplemental materials must be submitted by midnight on the deadline date. Paper applications or any supplemental materials in paper form must be postmarked by the deadline date.
