Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be 23 years of age or older.
  2. Must be a first-time undergraduate student, or be returning after an absence from school.
  3. Must attend a college or university in the St. Louis metro area.
  4. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: The Janice Mosby Scholarship Fund is available for students over the age of 23 in the St. Louis metropolitan area who are enrolling in college for the first time or returning after an extended absence from school. Applicants must demonstrate unmet financial need and must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: The Janice Mosby Scholarship Fund is available for first-time and re-entry students in the St. Louis metro area who are 23 years of age or older. Applicants must demonstrate academic potential as well as a commitment to leadership through volunteering and community service. Awards are provided by Prosperity Connection in memory of Janice Mosby, a long-time St. Louis area teacher and co-founding director of Prosperity Connection. Shortly after helping to found the organization, she passed away unexpectedly. This award was established in 2011 to continue her legacy and to assist local area students who are returning to school after an absence. Scholarship Central is made possible by a joint commitment between St. Louis Graduates and the St. Louis Community Foundation, as well as a variety of private and public sponsors. All funds provided by St. Louis Community Foundation do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, national origin, gender, age, color, sexual orientation, veteran status, physical or mental disability.

Award Amount: $1,250 annually, renewable for up to one additional year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

To be considered for this award, students must register an online account with the Scholarship Central scholarship application system. In addition to the online application form, applicants for the Janice Mosby Scholarship Fund must submit: responses to the supplemental questions; high school and/or college transcripts; proof of financial need; two letters of recommendation; an essay describing why the applicant feels he or she is best qualified for the award; and a listing of volunteer experience, community service projects, and any awards or distinctions won. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted through the online system no later than the deadline date.
