Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. In past years, there were 560 awards given.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a student of color. For the purposes of this award, a student of color is one of the following: African American, Asian American, Hispanic American or Native American.
  3. Must be a resident of Minnesota.
  4. Must plan to attend an accredited public or private college, university, technical, or vocational school in Minnesota.
  5. Must plan to enroll as a full-time student.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  7. Must be graduating or have graduated from a high school in Minnesota.
  8. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for minority undergraduate students with financial need who are residents of Minnesota and attending a college or university in Minnesota. Students who accept financial aid from the foundation are required to return to their communities and perform annual service-to-children projects with younger children of color.

Additional Information: The applicant will be notified around June 1 regarding the status of his/her application. A condition of the grant is that Page Scholars must complete a community service requirement. Page scholars will select their projects from a list of organizations in their chosen community. Scholars will work with other students; and will be involved with tutoring, reading to young children, or being a big buddy mentor, etc. Scholars are expected to volunteer eight to ten hours each month, totaling 50 hours per year. Scholars who attend school away from their home community may choose to complete a project in the community where they attend school, or they may volunteer in a summer program in their home community.

Award Amount: From $1,000 to $2,500 per school year depending on school expenses and individual need. Renewal is based on the student maintaining full-time enrollment, satisfactory progress in school and completing the service-to-children requirement. The applicant must reapply for his/her award at the start of every academic year. Payments are made directly to the school.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,750.

Applications are available online on the Page Education Foundation (PEF) website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant applying for a Page grant for the first time must submit the following materials: a 400- to 500-word essay addressing the three topic areas listed on the website; two letters of recommendation, one from a current teacher and the other from a non-relative who can provide information on his/her background and civic participation; a recent school transcript; and a copy of his/her parents' federal tax return from last year OR a copy of the report from the student's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The completed application and supporting materials must be postmarked no later than the deadline date.
