Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be an original enrollee, spouse of an original enrollee, descendant of an original enrollee, or the adopted child of an original enrollee of Salamatof Native Association, Inc. (SNAI).
  4. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  5. Must be accepted or enrolled full time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program or technical skills training program.
  6. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Alaska Natives who are original enrollees, the spouses of original enrollees, descendants or adopted children of an original enrollee of the Salamatof Native Association are eligible to apply for this award. Students must be high school seniors or current undergraduate students with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Application requirements for the Salamatof Native Association Inc. (SNAI) Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Photo
  • College acceptance letter
Additional Information: This scholarship program was established in 1992 by the Salamatof Native Association. Each recipient may only receive one award from the CIRI Foundation at a time.

Award Amount: Up to $1,500 annually, non-renewable. The award amount is subject to available funds. The check is made payable to the student and the university/school and must be endorsed by the student and the university/school to be valid. Scholarship funds are for tuition, university fees, books, required class supplies, as well as campus housing and meal plans for students who must live away from their permanent home to attend college.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,750.
